A.J. currently serves as the Head of Community Stewardship and President of The Vanguard Group Foundation where he oversees Vanguard’s philanthropic and volunteerism strategy to increase the company’s global impact. Prior to joining Vanguard, A.J. served as the Head of Community Relations for the Wells Fargo Foundation, where he led a national team of corporate social impact professionals who implemented strategic philanthropic initiatives, inspirational employee engagement programs, and authentic partnerships with community stakeholders.
A.J. began his career as a social worker and public education advocate. Among his leadership roles in the private sector, A.J. helped implement a signature community relations initiative for a global Fortune 500 hospitality company and served as a government relations leader for a national Medicaid healthcare company, where he partnered with elected officials and consumer advocacy organizations to increase funding for health care services and programs for families in marginalized communities.
A.J. is a graduate of the University of Delaware and the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Social Policy and Practice. He is a husband and father of two daughters and resides in the Philadelphia region.
