President & CEO
Andrea Wood has more than three decades of experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, nonprofit management, and fundraising. She spent 12 years leading Best Buy’s community engagement and strategic initiatives, most recently as Vice President of Social Impact for Best Buy and Executive Director of the Best Buy Foundation. In this role, she created and led the development of the company’s signature community program, Best Buy Teen Tech Centers, as well as directed the evolution of other social impact programs such as Geek Squad Academy. These programs focus on helping youths from underinvested communities prepare for the tech-reliant jobs of the future.
Prior to Best Buy, Andrea served in a leadership role on the Community Relations team at Target. She also worked in various corporate communications roles at Target and Travelers Insurance. She began her career working in the nonprofit sector, serving in various program management, fundraising and leadership positions.
Andrea holds a M.A. in Public Policy and Nonprofit Management from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and a B.A. in English from Kalamazoo College in Michigan. She currently serves on the board of directors for The Clubhouse Network in Boston, and she is a member of the Advisory Board for the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
A native of Washington, D.C., Andrea moved to Minneapolis many years ago to attend graduate school and never left. To survive the cold winters, she teaches group fitness classes at Lifetime Fitness and enjoys outings with her all-women’s cross country ski club.
