Employee Volunteerism

The National Women’s Shelter Network, Inc. is dedicated to advancing the safety, economic security, health and wellbeing of women, children and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness and that of the women’s and family shelters and safe haven programs that serve them, to end and prevent homelessness. The first-ever collaborative national network of women’s and family shelters and safe haven programs, the Network is over 525 members strong and growing, representing 49 states and 3 U.S. territories.

The NWSN promotes programs that advance standards of care for women, families, children and youth experiencing homelessness, including:

  • Addressing food security and hunger through food distribution, grants, and an innovative group purchasing model.
  • Renovating sleeping environments, common areas and children’s play spaces in shelters to promote safe sleep and help children learn and grow.
  • Promoting the health and wellbeing of women experiencing homelessness through service-driven research, education and policy reform.
  • Improving the economic security and financial literacy of women and youth experiencing homelessness.
