WASHINGTION, DC – The Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals (ACCP) – the nation’s leading advocate for corporate social impact professionals and purpose-driven companies – recently welcomed Andrea Wood, former Vice President of Social Impact for Best Buy and Executive Director of the Best Buy Foundation, as the association’s new President and CEO. Today, ACCP released a new video officially introducing their new leader and her vision for the future of the corporate social impact profession and its association.
The new video comes on the heels of recently released Pulse Survey data. ACCP’s Pulse Survey shared insights from 141 corporate social impact leaders at leading companies. Amidst the DEI backlash, the data shows that 90% of corporate social impact professionals say their company’s commitment to responsibility remains strong. Commitment and engagement to corporate social impact programs result in higher profits, stronger brand loyalty, and better talent attraction and retention – all of which create a competitive advantage for businesses.
“This is a pivotal moment for our industry, and I am honored to lead the association that has been invaluable to me throughout my career in corporate social responsibility,” said Andrea Wood, ACCP President & CEO, who assumed her new role on January 29th of this year. “As one of my first initiatives, we released a new Pulse Survey showcasing important new data indicating that corporations remain committed to social impact programs. My message to corporations is to continue to engage with society in ways that bring shared value to both communities and your business. I look forward to working with our members and other leaders who are navigating the current landscape while ensuring businesses continue to play a vital role in society. The bottom line: vibrant communities are necessary for businesses to thrive”
In the two-minute video from Ms. Wood, she extols the virtue of social impact work stating she comes to the association at “such an important moment” for ACCP and declares corporate citizenship is “more important than ever.”
Prior to joining ACCP, Andrea Wood served as Vice President of Social Impact for Best Buy and Executive Director of the Best Buy Foundation, where she led transformative local and national impact initiatives enhancing employee engagement and building the company’s reputation. During her 12 years at Best Buy, Andrea created and led the development of Best Buy’s signature community program, Best Buy Teen Tech Centers.
Today, there are more than 70 of these innovative learning centers helping teens develop critical skills through hands-on activities that explore their interests such as programming, filmmaking, music production and design. Additionally, Ms. Wood also directed the evolution of other social impact programs for Best Buy such as Geek Squad Academy, focusing on helping youths from underinvested communities prepare for the tech-reliant jobs of the future.
Ms. Wood brings over three decades of corporate social responsibility and nonprofit leadership. In addition to Best Buy, Ms. Wood spent nearly six years at Target and served as Senior Manager on the retailers’ Community Relations team where she oversaw the company’s social service community partnerships and disaster relief programs.
