With Shareholder Season Underway, ACCP Chief Encourages Companies to Embrace Socially Responsible Practices

Fairfax, VA – As corporate shareholder meeting season takes shape, Carolyn Berkowitz, president and CEO of the Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals (ACCP), the nation’s leading advocate for corporate social impact professionals, today spoke out to encourage corporate executives to continue their commitment to socially responsible practices, which have a strong track-record of being good for business as well as society.  

Berkowitz recently penned a guest piece for the Washington Business Journal titled, “Don’t Believe What You Hear. ESG Isn’t Dead.”  In the piece, Berkowitz argued that “Customers, investors, employees, and community stakeholders have continued to call upon corporations to embrace social responsibility, from how they make their products to how they engage employees and communities, and everything in between. And companies are triumphantly rising to the occasion.”

As we approach the end of the first quarter financial reporting season when companies are preparing for annual shareholder meetings, Berkowitz continues to draw attention to the financial benefit companies gain when they have in place initiatives that promote sustainable, diverse, equitable and inclusive business practices.
